Fossils, dinosaur skeletons, earth sciences, and live animals

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History recently opened up its new $150 million addition, so Karen and I wanted to check it out. What a wonderful job they did with the new space. It’s filled with historic artifacts, plenty of education, and some interactive activities. The only downside was that several of those interactive displays were already out of order. I’m sure they’ll figure it out.

The older section of the museum also got a face lift during the addition. It includes cleverly arranged stuffed animals in nicely “generated” environments.

Then there is the mini-zoo outside, which we almost forgot was there.

I had the Canon Rebel T7i, using the kit lens. I could not shoot using automatic mode because of flash restrictions in the museum. With all the glass with natural light coming in from behind most of the displays, it was tough to get the manual settings just right.

Karen did quite well with her Google Pixel 7.

I also ended up doing an impromptu side project to take as many facial closeups as I could. I call that album the Faces of the Natural History Museum – Cleveland. (I have a feeling that could become an interesting photo series.)
